No doubt Justin Bieber intended to make a fashion statement when he arrived at a Sydney Nandos store for a bite on on Thursday.

However to some observers the 23-year-old looked a lot like the Nintendo video game character Luigi from the Super Mario Bros franchise.

The pop star was dressed in camouflage-printed overalls, black lace-up boots, a Supreme hat and a hoodie emblazoned with the French word 'Flaneur'.

But his green overalls, boot and cap combo brought to mind the fictional, animated plumber character, who also wears a green ensemble, albeit in a brighter tone.  

Adding to the off-duty tradie look, Justin wore the overalls undone on one side and had a long silver wallet chain hanging off the left pocket. 

The Super Mario Bros video game was launched in 1985, spawned a film in 1993, adn was bolstered into a merchandising empire.

The Baby singer, complete with his Luigi getup, was mobbed by fans in the Sydney suburb of Auburn as he grabbed some food with Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz.

The baby faced singer was spotted in the multicultural enclave as the famous pair enjoyed lunch at popular chicken eatery.

Fans rushed to take photos with the pop star, who needed to be physically protected by his Pastor and security.

Enthusiastic supporters of the Where Are Ü Now hitmaker looked stunned to see him as they crowded around him in fervent devotion.

His friend and pastor stood in front of him in an attempt to shield him from the group and lead him back to their vehicle.

Security also assisted the Canadian entertainer in the fan frenzy, who was escorted from the premises, with his video game inspired outfit largely intact.
