Young Montville Cancer Patient's Last Wish Is To Meet Justin Bieber

MONTVILLE, CT - After a long-fought battle with osteosarcoma, Marissa Jean Satiro was excited to get ready for her senior prom. Unfortunately, she would not make it to the dance that night.

While taking pictures on Saturday, June 3, Satiro began loosing mobility on her right side as her face began to droop, according to a post on the Satrio Strong Facebook page. She was slurring her words, losing her ability to speak and felt like she was going to collapse when she tried to walk.

That day, she was flown to Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery. Doctors said a tumor had ruptured, causing major swelling and bleeding of the brain, according to the post.

A close friend of Satiro's family, Jason Henriksen ("Uncle Jay"), created a video on June 11 to explain all that his "niece" had gone through. With that, some devastating news was brought to light.

"On Friday, June 9, Marissa's parents were informed that Marissa's candle would burn out soon," according Henriksen's video. "The cancer is so aggressive and she has fought it so hard, but it is spreading despite treatment now."

Doctors were unfortunately unable to say with certainty whether the patient would make it to her 16th birthday in August.

After receiving this news, Satiro and her family created a bucket list. Topping this list was her dream to meet pop star Justin Bieber, of whom Satiro is a huge fan and had seen in concert last year.

Henriksen is imploring that people share his niece's story, in hopes that it may attract Bieber's attention.

"Justin Bieber, nobody deserves this honor more than her," a message in the video reads. "If this reaches you, please reach out. We're begging you!"

For those looking for further ways they can help Satiro and her family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe page has been set up to go towards completing her bucket list. As of Friday afternoon, the page has raised $2,185 of a $15,000 goal.

A separate GoFundMe page has also been set up to help the family pay for medical expenses.

Henriksen meanwhile is hoping that Satiro's story may reach enough people to make her ultimate dream come true, before time runs out.

"Justin Bieber, she has closed her eyes and prayed to meet you," Henriksen said in the video. "While our prayers of her cancer being cured seem as if they may go unanswered, please don't let hers...she truly is an amazing lady."
