One of pop culture's biggest stars has made a habit of visiting Montclair.
Justin Bieber has popped up at numerous spots through the township in recent weeks, according to reports. A YouTube video that appears to depict the 23-year-old singer greeting fans and encouraging a girl's performance across the street from the Starbucks on South Park Street was posted in late May with Montclair stated as the location.
In the video, Bieber asks fans to "put down your phones and be normal for a second." A crowd gathers around him and he asks how they are. He wore a backward cap, thick-rimmed glasses, a gray sweatshirt, and black sweatpants with clean white sneakers. A young girl then performs "Brighter than the Sun" by Colbie Caillat and Bieber puts his arm around some fans, sways rhythmically to the music and yells "yeah" to encourage her. He gives her a high-five as he departs and told her she sounded great and gives the crowd a dab before he leaves.
Numerous people on Twitter have posted about seeing Bieber in Montclair, including on Grove Street. Another YouTube video showed Bieber playing basketball in Montclair. In the basketball video he shot a few hoops with six other people of varying ages while keeping a hood up most of the time.

The website starsightings.com reported Bieber was at Buzz Aldrin Middle School on May 31. LaTascha Foster of the school's PTA said her son showed her pictures on SnapChat of Bieber at the school in the mail office.
"I heard he was there to pick up his friend, Ava Lenz," Foster stated. "Her father is a local pastor of Hillsong Church and friend of Mr. Bieber."
Some fans even speculated that Bieber could be moving to Montclair. His appearances could be connected to a relationship with Hillsong Church Pastor Carl Lentz.
Bieber is an "acquaintance" and has been rumored to stay with Lentz and his family on Ridgewood Avenue in Glen Ridge, as previously reported in the Glen Ridge Voice. Lentz serves as a pastor at Hillsong NYC, a church in Manhattan that "has a passion to serve the city and make an impact worldwide," according to its website.
The church also holds meetings at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair on Sunday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. Messages left for Lentz on Facebook and through Hillsong Church were not immediately returned.
So where could the pop star turn up next in North Jersey? Bieber will be in the area in late August when he's scheduled to perform two shows at MetLife Stadium.
