The Navi Mumbai traffic police have asked organisers of singer Justin Bieber's show to provide manpower to help manage traffic movement around the venue – DY Patil Stadium in Nerul – on the day of the event, May 10.
A Delhi-based company White Fox is managing the event. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the concert.
Nitin Pawar, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), said, "There will be heavy traffic movement before and after the show. The situation might get difficult to handle as Buddha Purnima falls on the same day. Our officials will be at the spot from morning. But we have asked for 200 volunteers to keep the situation under control. The organisers haven't responded yet."
Pawar said as they have arranged for two temporary parking lots – Ganpat Tandel ground and Raheja ground – near the stadium.
"Major roads like Sion-Panvel highway, Thane-Belapur road and Palm Beach road will see traffic. We will divert traffic from some roads. The announcement will be made soon," said Pawar.
Prashant Khaire, deputy commissioner of police (zone 1), said the city police have planned bandobast to control crowd. "The stadium has a capacity of 55,000. Officials from respective police stations, crime branch and special branch will be at the venue and all public places."
