After the much public debate of 'actors being actors and singer being singers', between Sonakshi Sinha and the Malik brothers, the diva has finally released an official statement, claiming that she is not performing at the Justin Bieber concert. In fact, she never signed the dotted lines to perform as a singer for the event! Now would you believe that? Her statement reads, "Firstly, I am not performing at the Bieber concert. It was speculated because I was approached and carried forward by publications and portals even after I stated in various interviews that it's not happening. Secondly, I am an actor who loves music, who loves to perform and who loves to sing. And if anyone has a problem with that, in the wise words of baba Bieber himself… they can go "love" themselves. Over and out."
The last line is a clear dig at the Malik brothers and Kailash Kher, who weren't quite game about her being selected as a performer for the concert. It all started when Kher, in an interview, commented, "It doesn't give a good message internationally. They (people abroad) will think that Sonakshi must be a big singer in India. And then she will get concert offers from Canada, and then probably Sonakshi will laugh them off saying, 'I am not a singer but an actor'" It was this comment that sparked a debate on whether artists should just stick to their line of work or should they tread new paths of art.

To this though, singer Armaan Malik agreed and tweeted, "Agree with @Kailashkher sir! Actors are actors & singers are singers. Leave the stage & mic to us, that's our playground not yours." But he was soon shut down by Sona, who replied, "A secure artist wud always encourage another artist to grow their skills and follow their dreams. Art in any form should not be suppressed." And hence, began the war of words on Twitter. Armaan said, "I Agree with u sonakshi.. but I voiced what I felt about how singers are shunned in our country & given lesser importance than actors!!" But confusion arose when Sonakshi tweeted, "And this is definitely not the same tune you were singing when you wanted me to sing for you" to which he replied, "You are mistaking me for @AmaalMallik he is the composer :)"
Amaal Malik had to butt in after his name got dragged, as he tried to ease the air. However, Armaan continued to state how it's unfair to give non singers a chance to perform at big platforms. He tweeted, "It takes years of practice & devotion to be a professional. Be it acting, singing or any art for that matter. If u do something, do it well." and "Millions of singers are finding opportunities to work. Imagine how crushed they would feel when they see non-singers getting that chance?!" Well, to each is his own! Whose side are you on? Sonakshi or Armaan? Tell us in the comments box below. Stay tuned to this space for hot scoop and latest updates.
