They're the A-list celebrities who are rejecting premium hotel accommodation in exchange for lavish rental properties during their brief sojourns in Australia.

And superstars like Adele, Justin Bieber, Ricky Martin and more are paying top dollar prices for privacy and a sense of normalcy while they're far away from home.

Their preferred residences in cities like Sydney and Melbourne are real estate listings that don't even exist in the regular marketplace, with specific qualities to their liking.

Both Adele and Justin Bieber stayed in the same mansion in the upmarket neighbourhood of Mosman during their recent Sydney tour stops.

The waterfront property has been for sale for a number of months with an asking price of $20 million and it was rented to the stars for thousands of dollars weekly.

'These people are paying $20,000 to $40,000 a week,' explained Andrew Hornery from The Sun-Herald on Sunday.

Entertainers will also approach agents directly to evaluate potential properties for their stopovers in foreign cities.
