Hillsong NYC Pastor Carl Lentz took to social media Wednesday to share a photo of himself, his son, and Justin Bieber with a caption that expressed his love for the young pop star by quoting the Apostle Paul and the late rapper Biggie Smalls.
"LOVE these two legends, " the pastor wrote on Instagram under a photo of himself, his son, Roman, and Bieber all wearing matching glasses.
He went on to quote The Message Bible version of the Apostle Paul's definition of what love is, found in 1 Corinthians 13.
"Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, doesn't have a swelled head, doesn't force itself on others, isn't always 'me first,' doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of others, doesn't revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end. Love never dies," he wrote.
Without explaining what he was directly talking about, the megachurch pastor went on to break down what he thinks love should look like.
"If somebody says they 'love you' but you don't SEE THESE THINGS? Guard your heart! If you have experienced love like this? Best thing you can ever do, is share it w/ as many people as you can."
He ended his long post by quoting the late Christopher Wallace, better known by his rapper name, Biggie Smalls.
"Another wise man named Christopher Wallace said, 'spread love, it's the Brooklyn way.' May it be OUR way, day by day," Lentz added.
Bieber was recently spotted hanging out with Lentz in Australia. According to the Daily Mail, their time together is believed to be the reason Bieber promoted his Christian faith at his "Purpose Concert" in Sydney last week. Bieber emerged onto the stage in a transparent box displaying the hand-written words: "Mark my words Jesus loves you!"
While in Sydney Thursday night, the 23-year-old was reportedly in good spirits when he attended Hillsong's launch of the Colour Conference. He was seen spending the evening in ministry at the conference, and later Bieber and Lentz went to a local pub with friends.
The New York City-based preacher was with Bieber for the majority of his time in Sydney and kept fans updated via his Snapchat account. They posted social media updates while at brunch at high-end Sydney restaurants and they even enjoyed a bike tour on a three-person rickshaw while in New Zealand.
