Hello Karen, how are you feeling after the concert you gave tonight at Sziget?
It was really great tonight. It's always nice to play in Budapest, the public is really extraordinary, adorable and full of energy here. I know this will sound cliché to say it but it was a real pleasure! This is the second time I play the Sziget Festival but I've played in Budapest three times if I remember correctly.
You released the "Final Song" single and "Kamikaze" in recent months. When did your second album arrives?
My new album is in preparation. I already have the songs but I'm still provide the finishing touches. I have a schedule rather busy time, I'm always traveling and gigging so it takes more time than I thought … That's where I am (laughs)!
Can we expect more collaborations on this future project? At least with Diplo?
Yes of course. I love working with other people because it helps to compare your artistic world with the other. Then of course, for the relational side. I love that feeling and I find it rewarding. By cons I can not comment on the album but I wish I could (laughs)! I work with boys Major Lazer for several years and they are almost like my family now. Sure, I'll do more things with them.
A new duet with Major Lazer, a new tube! How was recording "Cold Water" with Justin Bieber?
Actually, I have not met Justin Bieber during the recording of "Cold Water". But I met him on another occasion when I was doing a concert with Major Lazer at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes. To confess everything, I recorded my part "Cold Water" from my side while I was on holiday in Iceland. So that's how it happened.
You write all the songs, which is increasingly rare today. Have you ever considered developing this side of your career as Sia or Charli XCX and write for others?
I love writing songs and then people take ownership, they interpret themselves. You know, it's wonderful when your song – your baby – to life, even if it is not you who sing. When I write a song, it's still very personal for me, I do not really wonder what will happen after that. But if someone takes a song that I wrote, I say "ok that's cool" unless I want to keep it to myself of course (laughs)! I find that today many artists write their own songs like Tove Lo, or Sia Charli XCX like you said and that's a good thing. It is as if there was a new wave of artists who write their own songs even if it still remains "the other side" where people just simply take songs. I think that's a good thing. It's cool, it's like a message to say "Go ahead, write your songs! ".
You made a very cool cover of "Lost" Frank Ocean. You too have the impression that the album never released?
To be honest, I have not really followed the heated discussions on the web about it. But I would like know because my boyfriend said "The album is still not out blah blah blah 'and I was like," Really? it's still funny! "Because it should be available … I do not really understand what is happening. I hope it will happen soon because I love Frank Ocean. He'd better hurry!
Do you know Master Gims? It is famous in France and his song "Do you love me?" has long been number 1 in Denmark.
Master Gims? I'm really bad with names, but when I listen to the songs I say "oh yes it is! ". That tells me something but I'm not very strong to remember … If it was number 1 in Denmark for sure that I've heard "Do you love me?" at least once…
