The pictures of Justin, 22, walking hand-in-hand with Sofia, 17, on a Laguna Beach made some fans do a double take, as he was JUST seen skinny dipping with swimsuit model Sahara Ray, 23, in Hawaii. It's possible that Sofia was even with Justin for his "clothing optional" vacation, which might make some older sisters worried — or upset. Not Nicole Richie, 34, as she's confident that her sis knows what she's doing.

"Nicole is very protective of Sofia but for the most part she trusts her judgment," a source close to the Candidly Nicole star EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com. Though Sofia's only 17-years-old, the source says that Nicole thinks her young sister has "got a good head on her shoulders."

Still, Nicole is still a big sister and that means making sure Sofia doesn't get in over her head while hanging out with Justin or any other boy. "A lot of Sofia's friends are Nicole's friends," the source tells HollywoodLife.com, adding that wherever Sofia goes — be it a vacation in Hawaii or on a hike in Hollywood with Biebs — Nicole is "keeping an eye on her from a distance." So, look out — Nicole is watching.

It's great that Nicole is keeping track of her little sis while trusting Sofia to take care of herself. Though, did Nicole get an eyeful of Sofia's latest fashion choice? As Sofia was leaving Justin's Los Angeles home on Aug. 9, she was wearing a pair of FAITH CONNEXION 'Hawaii' print track pants.

No big deal, right? Well, the pants were exactly like the pair Justin was rocked in April. So, either he and Sofia have the exact same fashion tastes – or he possibly decided to give her something to wear. Interesting. Another example of Justin's generosity?
