Justin Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, is a constant lightbeam in life, constantly tweeting to her followers about how we all should spread love. It's mixed in with Bible verses and hashtags. But her most recent hashtag had her taking a step back.
The motivational speaker/author tweeted "#AllLivesMatter" after the truly terrible attacks on police officers in Dallas on Thursday night during a #BlackLivesMatter demonstration, which left five dead. Protests across the country were organized yesterday after the police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile within a day of each other. Obviously, neither the police nor the black men should have lost their lives.
Mallette, while presumably well-intentioned, might not have realized the hashtag #AllLivesMatter was created to squash the plea of black Americans who want peace in their communities after too many friends and family members have been killed by police. And while, yes, all lives do matter, #BlackLivesMatter is its own specific cause for a reason. The people of Twitter let Mallette know:
Apparently I'm offending people unintentionally. Sorry for valuing all life. Geez. #lovewins. The real kind.

Mallette quickly apologized after other tweeters called her out and her words were featured in a PerezHilton blog post. She deleted the #AllLivesMatter tweet. Fans were not malicious, but simply wanted to correct, fearing Bieber might make the same mistake and face backlash too.
Others warned her of #BlackLivesMatter's agenda, which to its core, isn't anti-police, like the person below claims, but is pro-life and anti-police brutality.
In the end, we're all still learning compassion.
All I know is that there are too many hurting people in this world pointing fingers everywhere but to themselves. #hateloses #lovewins
