Justin Bieber's sweatshirt proves he's already part of Hailey Baldwin's family

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin may not be married yet, but the "Despacito" singer has already taken on his fiancée's family name.

While grocery shopping in NYC with his 21-year-old lady love on Monday, Bieber, 24, wore a Massapequa High School sweatshirt with "BALDWIN" emblazoned across the back.

The connection between the Baldwins and the Long Island town goes back decades. Alexander Rae Baldwin, Jr. — father to Billy, Daniel, Alec and Hailey's dad Stephen — taught social studies at Massapequa High School for 28 years starting in the 1960s.

He also led a Cub Scout troop and coached the school's football, Little League and riflery teams, according to an essay Alec wrote for the Huffington Post when his father passed away.

In 1997, Massapequa High School renamed its newly-renovated auditorium in the Baldwin patriarch's honor. And Billy Baldwin's Massapequa Community Fund, established in 2001, helps provide college scholarships for Massapequa School District students.

But while Bieber's hoodie has deep ties to his fiancée's family heritage, the question remains: whose is it?

The sweatshirt appears to be relatively new, so it's highly unlikely that it belonged to Hailey's grandfather. Hailey grew up in Arizona, which probably rules her out as the owner.

And Hailey's father and uncles all attended Berner High School, the district superintendent's office confirmed to Page Six. Berner opened in 1962 to relieve overcrowding at Massapequa High and closed in 1987, several years after every Baldwin family member had already graduated.

The most likely conclusion? Hailey — or Bieber — ordered and customized a brand-new hoodie, which is available online for $39.99.

This isn't the first time Bieber and Baldwin, who favor matching outfits, have honored the Baldwin family with their clothing choices. Last Thursday, Baldwin wore a vintage Stony Brook sweatshirt that nodded to her grandmother, a cancer survivor who founded the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center at Stony Brook University.

Perhaps the couple will choose Long Island as a location for their upcoming nuptials.
