Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, reportedly on a break but not fully off these days, did not make their red carpet debut at tonight's iHeartRadio Music Awards. But the reasons for their absences are very different: Gomez is physically far away from the show's Los Angeles venue while Bieber is reportedly skipping all award shows for the foreseeable future.

Bieber, meanwhile, was photographed out in West Hollywood today. But during the Grammys, a TMZ report came out that the Biebs was skipping all award shows until his new album is released, and he has new music to perform and promote at them. No Bieber album is out yet, so no iHeartRadio Music appearance.
Both Gomez and Bieber were nominated for iHeartRadio awards tonight. Gomez was nominated for Dance Song of the Year ("It Ain't Me," with Kygo), best fan army (Selenators), and best music video ("Bad Liar"). Gomez has won no awards so far.
Bieber was nominated for Song of the Year ("Despacito," with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee), best collaboration ("Despacito"), best fan army (Beliebers), and best remix (twice: "Despacito" and "Friends"). Bieber has won no awards so far.
As for Jelena's relationship status these days? Us Weekly, like People, E!, and Entertainment Tonight, reports there is trouble between the two. They're pausing their romance because of Gomez's family's disapproval of it.
"Selena and Justin decided to take a break mainly because of Selena's mom and her disapproval of Justin," a source told the outlet. "Justin's family loves Selena, but Selena's family has put her in a very conflicting spot because they still don't trust Justin. Selena has tried to convince her family that Justin has changed … but her family just isn't budging right now."
