The news of Justin Bieber's and Selena Gomez's latest take-a-break moment in their perpetually on-again, off-again relationship was perhaps inevitable for those who could read between the lines—or, in this case, the locks. One look at Bieber's bedhead hair over the past several days said everything, courtesy of a messy tousle that read like a cry for help.
After all, the disheveled look is a long way from Bieber's blissful, neatly groomed coif when he and Gomez were first reported to be back together last August. Regressive and oddly familiar, it's a messy version of his hockey hair from when he first entered stardom in the mid-2000s—only now, paired with a low headband or trouble-in-paradise cap.
Whether or not the couple's rift is permanent, only time—and continued observation—will tell. But Gomez or no, eventually, Bieber is sure to pull himself together with a little more conditioner, a dollop of mousse, and of course, a much-needed hug.
