The Weeknd implies he offered Selena Gomez his kidney

The Weeknd has implied he offered his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez his kidney.

The 'Heart Wants What It Wants' hitmaker underwent a major operation last summer after she developed lupus nephritis - one of the complications of lupus - and her best friend Francia Raisa gave her one of her kidneys because hers had started to fail.

But it looks like Francia wasn't the only one to offer up an organ as her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd - whom she dated for almost a year until the end of 2017- has hinted in his new song 'Call Out My Name' that he was willing to risk his life for the 25 year old.

The lyrics of the track, which features on his new EP 'My Dear Melancholy', read: "I said I didn't feel nothing baby, but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life."

And that's not the only mention of the pair's brief but intense relationship as he also sings: "Guess I was just another pit stop / 'Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time/ We found each other / I helped you out of a broken place / You gave me comfort / But falling for you was my mistake."

Shortly after her split from the 28-year-old singer, Selena was spotted enjoying time with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and the pair have since rekindled their romance.

The Weeknd, on the other hand, is believed to be talking to his former flame Bella Hadid again - and couldn't resist including her in some of his lyrics on 'Wasted Times'.

He sings: "Wasted times I spent with someone else/ But you've been with me from the beginnin' (ooh, yeah, yeah) / And I know right now that we're not talkin'."
