Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have reportedly split due to the ongoing tension between the Bad Liar singer and her mother.
Last week E! News reported that the pair were 'taking a break' temporarily, with the publication claiming the relationship had cracked under pressure from the public and Selena's family life.
"They both have expressed that they have been feeling overwhelmed with a lot of pressure that has come with their public relationship, and haven't been seeing eye to eye on things," an insider told the publication.
Now, US Weekly reports that the split has been made more official. A source close to the family said: "Selena and Justin decided to take a break mainly because of Selena's mom and her disapproval of Justin.
"Justin's family loves Selena, but Selena's family has put her in a very conflicting spot because they still don't trust Justin. Selena has tried to convince her family that Justin has changed … but her family just isn't budging right now."

Selena is incredibly close with her mother, Mandy Teefy, and the pair publicly fought over her rekindled romance with Justin in 2017. After unfollowing each other on Instagram for a brief period, they re-followed one another and Teefy told reporters: "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy. She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices."
However, according to a source the tension between the pair has not subsided over time.
"Her relationship with Justin has really affected her relationship with her mom, and it's been hard for her because she is super close with her mom. Her mom was her rock when she was having her health complications," the insider also told US. "Justin and Selena decided to take a break to give her family some more time to heal and take in the idea of her and Justin being a couple again."

The 25-year-old singer began dating the 24-year-old What Do You Mean singer in 2010. They broke up for the first time in 2012, before going on to have an on-off relationship until 2014.
Since then, Selena and Justin have remained in each others lives and have been pictured spending time together on several occasions in the past four years. They were again linked romantically in late 2017, when they were photographed enjoying lunch and bike-riding dates in the wake of Selena's split from The Weeknd.
Here's hoping Selena, her mother, and Justin can work this out.
