A new story about how Selena Gomez loves Justin Bieber, but needs "me time" is completely made-up. The story comes from a site that has been indisputably wrong with its slew of so-called "exclusive" reports. Still, Gossip Cop fact-checked the claim, and we're categorically told no one close to Gomez shared that with any website, let along one that's earned the nicknamed HollywoodLies.
According to HollywoodLife, which has published numerous fake news stories about the two young stars, while Gomez is happy she and Bieber "rekindled" their romance, she "feels the need" to take time apart from her boyfriend to work on her "strained relationship" with her mom, Mandy Teefey. A supposed "source close to Selena" is quoted as telling the often disproven website, "Selena really needs a little space, and time, on her own… She also wants to iron things out with her mom." Gomez still "loves [Bieber] with all her heart, she just needs a little 'me' time, to help get her head together," adds the seemingly fabricated insider before the blog notes, "Selena was recently seen in Texas, where her family lives, hinting that she's working on mending things with Mandy."
Actually, that last line is among the giveaways that HollywoodLies manufactured this article as well. The site has no inside information. Basically, like anyone else, the repeatedly debunked blog saw photos on Twitter of Gomez in Texas on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Obviously, Gomez was at home to see her mother and Bieber was nowhere in sight.
HollywoodLies also did not come to learn on its own that Gomez and Bieber are taking a break. Far more reputable outlets like People, for example, first reported, "They weren't getting along and decided to take a break." The magazine further noted they're temporarily taking time away from each other, though it appears not to be "a big deal and they will probably be fine soon again." With those details out in public, along with the remarks Teefey exclusively shared with Gossip Cop about her relationship with Gomez, the site was able to cobble together its latest made-up article and falsely claim to have an "exclusive."
But it's all a lie, much like numerous other tall tales from HollywoodLies about Gomez. Just a couple of weeks ago, the same blog that was incontestably wrong about Gomez and Bieber spending Thanksgiving and Christmas together, untruthfully claimed to have the dish on her special plans for his birthday. In two separate, yet equally wrong stories, HollywoodLife spread fake news about Gomez planning a surprise party for Bieber, as well as them arranging to just have "alone time" together, without anyone else.
As widely reported, both fictional scenarios created by that site never happen. Instead, Bieber celebrated his birthday without Gomez. It should also be pointed out that much like its previously concocted and untrue articles, the outlet similarly maintained its supposed scoop came from a "source close to Selena." At this point, however, it should be abundantly clear that no one tight with Gomez is really talking to that site, which she publicly called "the worst."
