Selena Gomez needed a second medical procedure after the kidney transplant that saved her life, but the details behind the emergency surgery now reveal that Gomez was once again in a life or death situation.
Francia Raísa told US Weekly that a few hours after her and Selena's surgery, "I woke up and had a text from her that said, 'I'm really scared.' My kidney was very active, and when it turned I broke an artery."
She says doctors rushed Selena back into surgery, and removed a vein from her leg to build a new artery and keep the new kidney in place. Raísa admits, "She could have died."
Selena had previously explained there were some complications after the kidney transplant, but it was unknown how severe of a situation the singer was dealing with.
Back in December, Selena celebrated New Year's Eve with her girlfriends, and Justin Bieber, in Cabo San Lucas. The singer was seen with a gigantic scar on her leg, which we now know is due to the removal of the vein during her second procedure.
