How this top designer decks out her beach house

Every Hamptons homeowner knows Farrell Building Co.

Its leaders, a husband-and-wife team of developer Joe Farrell and designer Kristen Farrell, are responsible for building (or renovating) and selling hundreds of houses from Westhampton to Montauk.

Joe is often in the spotlight for creating lavish estates that Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Madonna and other boldface names have rented for up to $1 million per month in summers past. (Bieber posted a photo with Joe on Instagram while flying on Joe's private plane in 2016.)

Now it's Kristen's time to shine. After a decade overseeing interior design and six years of staging for Farrell Building Co., she just launched a separate company, Farrell Home, which operates not only in the Hamptons but in NYC and Palm Beach as well. Her signature style is comfortable elegance suitable for both grown-up entertaining and goofing around with your kids. She also prides herself on speed of service.

"Our clients don't have three months to shop and 10 weeks to wait for a sofa," she says. "They want their homes styled and furnished quickly so they can start living."
Partnerships from home dècor giants Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and Sherwin Williams Paint — as well as local artists — give Farrell an edge. On July 26, she'll debut a show house at Farrell's newly built 50 Lawrence Court in Water Mill, on the market for $7.99 million.

It'll be open to the public for two weeks, but you don't have to wait that long to capture Kristen's beach-chic aesthetic. Here, her five favorite home goods stores in the Hamptons for pre-summer shopping.

Serena & Lily Beach Market

Jean Hodgens

"This is a regular stop for us since they opened a few years ago. Great trays, classic Hamptons bedding — and I love their blue-and-white pillows, which never go out of style."

332 Montauk Highway, Wainscott, 203-635-8000

Sybelle Carpet

Farrell Building

"This is my favorite spot for all wool, viscose and synthetic carpets. Unparalleled service and great staff. Sybelle also has hardwood floors and indoor/outdoor rug options."

375 County Road 39, Southampton, 631-283-6888

Homenature

Eric Striffler

"It has a natural aesthetic. I like the concrete bench — it's something you just can't get everywhere. I also like the bone coffee table, which comes in round or square shapes, their Dunes ivory dining table, and the cream pillows, which are awesome."

6 Main St., Southampton, 631-287-6277

Rumrunner Home

Ellen McDonald

"I personally love this store and admire how they adapt to what's new and hot. It's always good for last-minute furniture needs, a quick gift and wall mirror options."

330 Montauk Highway in Wainscott and 62 Hampton Road in Southampton, 631-725-1379

English Country Antiques

"There's immediate gratification here. It is always so well stocked. I love the light fixtures, and the scale of the coffee tables. Their wallpaper department is the best in the Hamptons."

26 Snake Hollow Road, Bridgehampton, 631-537-0606
