We hear that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are struggling to properly focus on their relationship. Here's why!

The two seem to be on and off a lot due to many obstacles.

One insider explained that 'They're in a constant state of flux when it comes to their relationship. When they're together it starts out great, and when they are not they miss each other, but they want their own lives as well. It's a bit of a cake and eat it too situation. They cannot really put it all together.  They'll continue to break-up and make-up because they're together because they do not feel anyone else understands them. So it's a constant cycle.'

Of course, there is yet another problem that you may already know about.

Ever since Selena and Justin rekindled their relationship, one person, in particular, has been totally against it – Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey.

'Selena's mom monitors it all because of what Justin did in their first go around. So that will always be there, but she has also seen some change in him and hopes that'll continue. Mady is letting go of the leash a bit but still has an ample grip if Justin goes back to his old ways. She's absolutely still in the mix because she wants the best for her daughter,' our source added.

Finally, 'Their careers are taking them separate ways, and they have fights about their future. Whether they'll get married, have kids, live together. Normal relationship questions they have different ideas on day by day. Their future plans give them headaches. And instead of talking through their concerns they just get upset and avoid talking about it.'

Even though there are a lot of issues, we hear that the couple doesn't think outside help such as counseling is the solution as 'they can get through any differences through their faith and by attending church.

'They're focused on putting it in God's hands. They both consider couple's therapy a defeat and if it were to get to that point that their relationship would not be worth saving anymore.'
