A couple of new stories claiming Justin Bieber is ready to propose to Selena Gomez "right now" and whether she's going to "accept his marriage proposal" are completely made-up. The reports are from HollywoodLife, a site that has published a tremendous amount of fake news about the couple and has even floated these same narratives since 2013. Gossip Cop, however, can shoot down the latest round of fabricated articles.
According the website that's often called HollywoodLies, Bieber is "ready to get down on one knee." The outlet, which Bieber tried to have shut down because he thinks it's "untruthful" and "garbage," falsely maintains it has an "insider" who says the singer would "propose to Selena right now if it was down to just him and how he feels." The same almost assuredly fabricated source blathers on about how Bieber's "waiting until it's the right time." The seemingly phony tipster then adds, "Selena has made it clear to Justin that she doesn't want to rush things… she wants them to take things slowly."
Of course, Gossip Cop would like to know if this is all coming from the same "insider" HollywoodLies relied on just a month ago when it wrongly maintained Bieber and Gomez were "on a break" after an explosive fight? Or perhaps it's the same source the blog used when it falsely reported that Gomez and Bieber were going to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas together. Either way, it's abundantly clear the blog does not have real or trustworthy sources.
It also bears mentioning that HollywoodLies has been trying to peddle this false narrative for years. In May 2013, the site ran a story with the headline, "Justin Bieber Shopping For Engagement Ring For Selena Gomez?" In that work of fiction, the blog claimed Bieber "asked famed designer Neil Lane to design a ring costing nearly $1 million." That was a lie.
Then in March 2014, HollywoodLife posted a fake news story titled, "Selena Gomez Wears Band On Ring Finger — Engaged To Justin Bieber?" In that wholly untrue article, the know-nothings at that outlet squealed, "It looks like [Gomez] could be getting married" and "maybe he really did pop the question." Not only was that 100 percent wrong, but so too was another fabricated report four months later that had the headline, "Justin Bieber Proposes To Selena Gomez — But Is It Too Late?"
A few years have passed and the site appears to still be a fiction factory. Last November, HollywoodLies claimed Gomez and Bieber were talking about eloping. And a month later the often discredited blog said they were going to secretly marry in Barbados, Hawaii, or Mexico, and that Bieber had already possibly popped the question. The supposed engagement, noted the outlet, "doesn't come as much of a surprise." And yet now, in a series of newly manufactured articles, they curiously make no mention at all of Gomez and Bieber already being engaged. Second hint: They lie a lot.
In reality, no one close to Bieber or Gomez, who once called the site "the worst" in an interview, is sharing anything with HollywoodLies. And upon careful inspection, the fake "insider" quotes really offer no information or insight whatsoever. While the alleged tipster supposedly says Bieber's "ready to get down on one knee," a few sentences later the blog covers its tracks by having that same make-believe source add how Gomez "doesn't want to rush things."
Not coincidentally, as soon as traffic began to wane on the made-up tale about Bieber being ready to propose "right now," the serial fibbers at the outlet came up with yet another phony angle about whether Gomez would even accept his marriage proposal. In its most current fake news story, a Gomez source asserts she "doesn't want to rush things," which should sound familiar because that's the exact same fabricated sentence that was attributed in the previous article to the site's (nonexistent) Bieber "insider." It appears the blog is so busy concocting bogus reports that it can't even keep track of its lies anymore.
