"Daddy's Home 2": Just like in "A Bad Moms Christmas," things that were settled at the end of "Daddy's Home" — alpha male Mark Whalberg and marshmallow Will Ferrell embrace co-daddyhood — become unsettled when their parents show up for Christmas. In spite of a generally loathsome appearance by Mel Gibson as the alpha granddad, it must be said that dads edge moms when Ferrell goes full-Griswold in a holiday lights disaster scene and a finale so big and dumb it will shut down your critical faculties.

"Keep Watching": Masked killers live-stream their home invasions, which they stage to look like slasher flicks. Online viewers don't realize they're watching real victims die — or do they? It's a gimmick that ought to indict people who watch movies like this, but the message gets muddled as another beautiful family — including kids Bella Thorne and "The Walking Dead's" Chandler Riggs — gets hunted down inside a home rigged with more cameras than the Big Brother house.

"Suburbicon": Here's a Coen brothers tale dropped into a satirical Tim Burton suburb, where the metaphorical anti-outsiderism of "Edward Scissorhands" has been replaced by straight-up racism. It's an unstable mix. The movie begins with an inexplicable crime — Matt Damon's wife (Julianne Moore, who also plays the victim's twin sister) is killed in a bizarre robbery. When the motive becomes clear, horror sets in. Maybe Hitchcock could have found some humor here; George Clooney, who directed, leaves you alternately scratching your head and covering your eyes.
