Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are not engaged and planning to "secretly marry." Untrue reports are circulating on Wednesday thanks to an unreliable tabloid and untrustworthy webloid. Gossip Cop can bust the stories.

The new issue of Life & Stylecontends, "Despite her family's disapproval, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are saying 'I do'" in a "secret wedding." The gossip magazine's article maintains the couple is already "secretly engaged and have been talking about tying the knot in early 2018." A so-called "insider" asserts that, since Gomez's family isn't too supportive of the relationship, "they've decided to marry in secret" and avoid "any protests or interventions."

"Selena is too scared to even shared her happy news," this supposed source claims, even though it's purportedly being leaked in a national publication. The outlet's tipster further alleges, "Selena is feeling slightly sad that she's keeping the wedding from those closest to her, but she's thrilled to be walking down the aisle." In fact, Life & Style babbles on about possible locations for the nuptials, dress designers and guests, such as Hillsong Church pastor Carl Lentz.

Unsurprisingly, HollywoodLife picked up the allegations within hours of the article coming out, exclaiming, "Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber want a drama-free happily ever after, and they've reportedly found the perfect way to get it: a secret wedding!" Of the purported plan to "secretly marry," the site opines, "It's not ideal, but it's what Selena and Justin have to do if they want to pull off getting hitched without a hitch." And while the blog often laughably pretends it has "insiders" and "sources" of its own, it gives itself away here with the phrase, "if they truly are engaged."

If HollywoodLies, as it's known, actually had inside access, it would've been able to consult its supposed contacts to find out the truth, as Gossip Cop did. Instead, the webloid just copied the tabloid's contentions regardless of whether they hold any merit. And they don't, we're told. Bieber and Gomez are keeping their relationship low-key. Getting married, even in secret, would most definitely not be low-key.

The gossip media is falsely giving the impression that the couple's relationship is more advanced that it actually is, such as this same tabloid last month wrongly deeming Gomez a "pregnant bride." Tellingly, nothing is said in this new article about a pregnancy. That's the level of accuracy and consistency we're dealing with here. And together, Life & Style and HollywoodLies seem not to care, as long as they can hook readers. But Gossip Cop cares, which is why we want everyone to know these engagement and wedding claims are untrue.
