HollywoodLife claims to "exclusively" know the reason why Justin Bieber didn't attend the 2017 Billboard Women in Music event, where Selena Gomez was honored with "Woman of the Year," but the story is made-up. Gossip Cop is assured that no one close to either of the singers spoke to the unreliable webloid about the situation.
After first noting that Bieber "was noticeably absent from the special event," the site maintains that the "choice to stay home was a deliberate one." An alleged insider tells the outlet, "It wasn't the time or place to reintroduce themselves as a couple… he didn't want to take away any light shed on her from the night." The seemingly phony source adds, "People needed to focus on Selena and he didn't want to ruin that by attending because he knows then he would have been the story."
However, many of the honorees at the Billboard awards ceremony, which celebrates women in the music industry, attended the show without their significant others. Also, Gomez's guest at the ceremony was her best friend Francia Raisa, who donated a kidney to the singer earlier this year. Gomez even dedicated her award to Raisa during an emotional acceptance speech. It should also be noted, Gossip Cop hears from insiders that Gomez and Bieber's rekindled romance isn't as serious as many people think.
Regardless, we're also assured that no one in the couple's trusted inner circle gave HollywoodLife an explanation as to why Bieber didn't attend the event. Although it's reasonable to assume that he didn't want to steal any attention away from his girlfriend on her big night, no one close to either singer provided this information to a blog that frequently publishes lies about both of them.
Unfortunately, HollywoodLife has been churning out bogus stories about the couple ever since they reunited last month. Gossip Cop recently busted the webloid for wrongly speculating that Bieber would join Gomez's family for Thanksgiving. And shortly before that fabrication, we called out the site for making up a story about Bieber and Gomez eloping. This latest article is more fiction.
