DANVILLE — Dressed in Santa hats and reindeer antlers 52 kids from Komotion, a dance studio in Danville, spread Christmas cheer through dance to several retirement homes in Danville.
Hidi Horikoshi, owner of Komotion, said the kids were looking forward to today all week, and that idea behind today was "to teach kids a lesson about giving back to the community, and also spread a little holiday joy."
The group visited three retirement homes, Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation, Vintage Knolls and Maria Joseph Manor.
The kids danced to four songs at each location, including "All I want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey and "Drummer Boy" by Justin Bieber featuring Busta Rhymes.
Nicole Tray, 15, of Danville, enjoyed dancing for the senior citizens. "It was a lot of fun, and it was fun to work with all the little kids," she said.
As the kids danced, residents of Vintage Knolls tapped their feet and some high-fived the dancers.
"It was a burst of energy for the residents," said Joe Kurtek, community relations manager at Vintage Knolls. "It brings energy to them and to the workers. It gets us in the Christmas spirit."
Marjorie Walker, a resident at Vintage Knolls, had a huge smile during the performance.
"We loved it, that's just the kind of excitement needed here at Vintage Knolls," she said. "They're a tough act to follow. The Christmas carolers have their work cut out."
