Man Posed As Justin Bieber To Entice Girls Sentenced

WATERBURY, CT — A Waterbury man was sentenced to 17 years in prison after he posed as famous musicians online in order to trick young girls into sending him sexually explicit photos. His imprisonment will be followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

John Eastman, 50, engaged in video chats with minors over the Internet with minors between June and November 2012. He used the Skype name justin.bieber727 to communicate with a girl under the age of 18. During the video chat he asked her to expose herself and pose in a sexually explicit manner. He saved a still image, said the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

He was arrested in May 2013 and has been detained since then. He pleaded guilty to one count of use of an interstate facility to persuade a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity. in March 2017.

His criminal history includes 31 convictions including convictions for inappropriate contact with a minor 20 years ago. He was placed on the sex offender registry for 10 years.
