Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are not "reconnecting," nor did her kidney transplant bring them "back together," despite tabloid reports that got picked up and spread by a lot of outlets who didn't bother to fact-check the claims. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct these stories. We're told they're entirely untrue.

According to In Touch, "There's hope for Jelena," the celebrity nickname for the ex-couple. The tabloid claims after Gomez's kidney transplant, Bieber reached out to Gomez's mom Mandy Teefey "to find out what was going on and apologize for the way he treated Selena when they were dating." And its sister publication Life & Style asserts that Gomez has "decided to forgive" Bieber, and quotes a so-called "source" as telling the magazine that they've now "been texting, talking and even making plans to meet up." "She's happy something positive came out of this awful situation," claims the supposed "source," who adds, "They both realized life is too short to hold grudges."

Gomez, alleges a tipster for In Touch, "wants to open a new, healthy chapter with [Bieber]." "They are finally ready to start new," adds that publication. However, Life & Style contends Gomez's boyfriend "The Weeknd is not thrilled" about her and Bieber's "renewed relationship."

It seems, however, that the sister publications were either duped by a misinformed "source" or they manufactured these tall tales about Bieber reaching out to Gomez and them "reconnecting" and "getting back together." Gossip Cop, on the other hand, fact-checked these claims and it's all a fabrication. An impeccable Gomez insider assures us they are not in contact and that there's "not an ounce of truth" to the tabloid's stories.

Of course, it's important to remember that In Touch is the same magazine that reported under a year ago that Bieber and Gomez were getting married, even though they hadn't been in contact for a long time. And Life & Style swore up and down in a cover story a year and a half ago that Kourtney Kardashian was pregnant with Bieber's baby. Basically, those tabloids had bad Bieber and Gomez sources back then and they haven't gotten any better.
