Ethan Lapkin, 14, of La Salle, is taking the stage as Lester the Jester in Merlyn Productions Theatre Company's The Princess and the Pea.
The play, as adapted by Richard David Jr., will run from Oct. 18 to 22 at the Forrest Nickerson Theatre (285 Pembina Hwy.) in Winnipeg.
This is Lapkin's second performance with Merlyn Productions as he made his debut earlier this year in the company's ChristieFest spoof And Then There Was One as a young pop-star character who he describes as being like Justin Bieber.
Lapkin, who attends Grade 9 at Westwood Collegiate in Winnipeg, discovered his passion for acting at a summer camp. He said he's looking forward to entertaining audience for The Princess and the Pea.
He hopes to continue developing his acting skills. "If things turn out well, it could be a career."
The Princess and the Pea runs approximately 50 minutes, and is geared for ages three and up. Children can meet Lapkin and the other characters in the lobby after the performance.
Show times for The Princess and the Pea are Wed., Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 19 to Sun., Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. with a matinée on Fri., Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m. General admission is $12 and children 12 and under pay $10. Group rates are available for 10 or more. Reservations can be made online at http://www.merlyn.biz or at 204-415-2714.
