Justin Bieber took to Instagram yesterday to show his support for the Black Lives Matter movement with a simple image reading "BLACK LIVES MATTER" in all caps and a few sentences explaining why he supports the movement.
The caption in full reads: "I am a white Canadian and I will never know what it feels like to be an African American but what I do know is I am willing to stand up and use my voice to shine light on racism, because it's a real thing and it's more prevalent now than I have ever seen in my lifetime.. we are all Gods children and we are ALL EQUAL."
While it's unclear how exactly the pop star plans to help the movement, besides using his platform to raise awareness of it, Bieber joins a long list of other celebrities supporting the movement including The Weeknd. It's also unclear why he's decided to show his support for Black Lives Matter now but following the cancellation of his "Purpose" tour for allegedly religious reasons, it could be due to a sort of spiritual awakening led by his pastor Carl Lentz.
