Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee & Justin Bieber's “Despacito” Breaks All-Time Streaming Record

Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber's "Despacito" has achieved what music analysts have long expected.

It has officially set a new global streaming record.

According to Universal Music, "Despacito" recently crossed 4.6 billion in global (audio and video) streams. The figure markedly tops that of Bieber's "Sorry," the previous record-holder, which boasts approximately 4.38 billion in global streams.

The 4.6 billion "Despacito" figure encompasses data from the original version and Justin Bieber remix.

The majority of those streams were generated on YouTube — the original video alone has over 2.6 billion views. Spotify has also been a major force; the Bieber remix and original combine for over 1.18 billion streams.

"Streaming is a connector for audiences worldwide and it has helped my music reach every corner of the planet," says Fonsi. "It is truly an honor that 'Despacito' is now the most streamed song in history."
