Montville Cancer Patient Who Wants To Meet Justin Bieber Returns To Hospital As Story Goes Viral

MONTVILLE, CT — Like many high school girls, 15-year old Marissa Satiro loves listening to pop star Justin Bieber and wants nothing more than to meet him. Unlike many high school girls, she has unfortunately had to put that dream atop her bucket list.

Though she is from Montville, Satiro has spent the last few years making frequent and extended trips to Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, when she was just 13 years old. On Monday, only a little over a week after returning home on June 16, Satiro unfortunately returned to the hospital. She told her mother her head felt like it did when her tumor ruptured, and a subsequent CAT scan revealed she had new bleeding on her brain, according to a post made Monday on the Satiro Strong Facebook page.

"Going in for an emergency MRI right now to find out what's causing this," the post said. "Please say some prayers or send some good vibes!! Need as many as we can get!! We can't catch a break!"

Patch previously reported Satiro's family had been told her cancer was spreading aggressively and she may not make it to her 16th birthday in August.

"On Friday, June 9, Marissa's parents were informed that [her] candle would burn out soon," according to a video made by family friend Jason Henriksen. "The cancer is so aggressive and she has fought it so hard, but it is spreading despite treatment now."

Satiro was thus compelled to create a bucket list, and topping said list was none other than a meeting with Bieber. Though previously thought to be a long shot, it seems her story has not fallen upon deaf ears.

Fox 61 reports that Satiro's story has gone viral, with the publication's own piece having been retweeted roughly 400 times and viewed on Facebook more than 36,000 times.

With people all over the state sharing her story, Satiro's family hopes they are close to helping her dream of meeting the pop star come true.

"Justin Bieber, nobody deserves this honor more than her," Henriksen said in his video. "If this reaches you, please reach out. We're begging you!"

An email was sent by Patch to Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, but has not yet been returned.

For those looking for further ways they can help Satiro and her family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe page has been set up to go towards completing her bucket list. As of Tuesday afternoon, the page has raised $3,520 of a $15,000 goal.

Henriksen meanwhile is hoping that Satiro's story may reach enough people to make her ultimate dream come true, before time runs out.

"Justin Bieber, she has closed her eyes and prayed to meet you," Henriksen said in his video. "While our prayers of her cancer being cured seem as if they may go unanswered, please don't let hers...she truly is an amazing lady."
