If you spot an autorickshaw in Mumbai decked with posters and banners of international popstar Justin Bieber, behind the wheel is the father of a lucky youngster who won a golden ticket to Bieber's Purpose World Tour 2017.
The 22-year-old 'Belieber' — as fans of the singer call themselves — won the most premium ticket worth Rs75,000 that will give him the best possible view of the concert on May 10, access to Bieber's personal merchandise and possibly, a chance to meet him in person.
Arjun Jain from White Fox India, which organising the concert, confirmed the news and said they had kept five tickets aside for special fans. "Bieber has a huge fan following in India and considering the tickets might be booked soon, we had reserved five," said Jain.
He added that the lucky fan had been posting messages on every fan page, all of Bieber's official handles and even to the organisers, requesting to be a part of the concert. "We contacted the fan and he told us he was also a musician and wanted to attend the show, but could not afford the tickets. He was ecstatic when we told him he has won one," Jain said.
The organisers said they will try to arrange for the 22-year-old to meet Bieber backstage. The student is apparently media shy and requested the organisers don't reveal his identity.
Through a message, "Namaste India. See you on May 10th at DY Patil Stadium," Bieber had confirmed his arrival first to HT on February 15.
Mumbai will be one of three Asian cities to host the Canadian singer — Tel Aviv (Israel) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) being the other two.
According to sources, Bieber will fly in with a 150-strong entourage, including backup dancers and choreographers. During his planned week-long stay, the popstar is "excited about doing the typical touristy things", said one source.
"Apart from Mumbai, he'll visit New Delhi and Jaipur for some sightseeing. The organisers are putting together a tentative itinerary that'll include a visit to a film set, some local shopping plus a meet-and-greet with A-list musicians and actors," the source said.
Bookings for the the Justin Bieber concert were opened on February 22, prices range from Rs 4,000-75000.
