Justin Bieber A Scofflaw, Lawyers In Nashville Court Case Say

NASHVILLE, TN — Selena Gomez's ex-boyfriend and Canadian famous person Justin Bieber is "thumbing his nose" at a Nashville court, attorneys in a copyright infringement lawsuit allege.

Along with screamo-singer-turned-EDM-superstar Skrillex, the former Silly Bandz endorser is being sued in a Nashville federal court for a vocal on his 2015 super-hit "Sorry," which went No. 1 in more than a dozen countries and reached No. 48 in Slovakia. Indie artist White Hinterland alleges that a series of "ah, ooo, ooo"s in the song were stolen from her song "Ring The Bell."

Bieber was scheduled to be deposed by Nashville-based attorneys February 8 in southern California, where he lives and occasionally throws eggs at his neighbor's house, but they were told he was too sick to answer questions about the case, but was then seen in a YouTube drinking beer with someone called SuperDuperKyle.

In a court filing, attorneys for White Hinterland said that Bieber's social media activity in the hours following the missed deposition are essentially a middle finger to the court, like the one he famously threw to paparazzi.

"Hours after skipping the deposition, Defendant Bieber posted pictures on his Instagram page toasting a drink with friends – implicitly celebrating that he has violated the law, the respect for this Court, and the respect for all the parties and counsel who flew to California to accommodate Defendant Bieber," the filing reads.

The motion asks the court to require the singer to be deposed in Nashville March 2.

Bieber and Skrillex have both denied that they ripped off White Hinterland. In May of last year, Skrillex — who has started performing with his old band From First to Last, for reasons passing understanding — posted a video on Twitter which he purports shows the vocal wasn't stolen.
