Cameron Dallas has over 16 million Instagram followers, six million YouTube subscribers and more Twitter followers than the soon-to-be President of the Unites States, Donald Trump. It's safe to say that the internet superstar pretty much owns the millennial social media scene.
"Cameron who?" I hear you say. And NGL, that was our initial reaction too. But grab any teenage girl and she'll be able to explain exactly who this 22-year-old social media savvy star is without any hesitation. In fact, my 14-year-old sister, Cleopatra, managed to tell me the date he uploaded his first YouTube video, the name of his dog (a husky called, Jax) and the age he was when he had his first kiss all within a matter of seconds.
To many, that's probably known as borderline stalking. But to my sister and the millions of girls around the world who are just as besotted by the rather dashing Dallas, it's just called being a "loyal fan" – something which has led to the Youtuber banking $4.5 million, so I doubt he's on his way to file a restraining order anytime soon. Instead, he seems to have an interactive relationship with his followers and is doing a pretty good job at setting a good example to his youthful fans.
"It's exactly like Hollywood – it's really easy to lose your head. These kids are getting into this space really young and without any direction really from anyone," he told the Evening Standard. "I mean, none of us really know what we are doing," he admitted.
