A Justin Bieber song from 2015 tops Google PH trending search list for 2016

Turns out, we're Beliebers — at least, according to Google Philippines. 

Google just released its report on the most-searched terms in the Philippines on Wed, Dec 14. And who topped Google Philippines' trending search for 2016?

"Love Yourself," the song by Justin Bieber from his album Purpose, which was released in Nov 2015.

Yes, let that sink in: our top Google search were lyrics to a song from last year. 

Even more surprising, slither.io (a multiplayer browser game reminiscent of the arcade game Snake) placed second in Google Philippines' top searches. The mobile game Pokemon Go landed in third.

Of course, we also searched a lot about the 2016 national elections: Comelec and Rodrigo Duterte also landed in the top 10 overall top trending searches in the Philippines list.  

Election 2016 was most searched news-related item, Rodrigo Duterte topped the search chart-topper in the male personalities category, Pia Wurtzbach topped the female personalites category, and the 2016 Olympics was the most searched event on Google Philippines this year. 

Google Philippines' top searches list for 2016 gives an interesting perspective on what we have been interested in this year. Who knew we loved Justin Bieber's song so much? Who knew there was a game more popular than Pokemon Go?
