What time is the 2016 American Music Awards on? What TV channel?

The 2016 AMAs will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles tonight (Sunday, Nov. 20) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The ceremony, hosted by model Gigi Hadid and comedian Jay Pharoah, will also be available for live streaming through ABC.com and the network's official app.

ABC is available in the Syracuse area on the following channels:

This year's performers include Bruno Mars, Niall Horan, Maroon 5 with Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande with Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, DJ Khaled, Sting, Green Day, The Weeknd and Fifth Harmony. Syracuse University alumnus Drew Taggart is expected to perform The Chainsmokers' hit song "Closer" with Halsey.

Ryan Seacrest, Taraji P. Henson, Robert Downey Jr. and Chrissy Teigen are among the presenters, along with Rachel Platten, Heidi Klum, Ciara, Mark Cuban, Ansel Elgort, Florida Georgia Line, Octavia Spencer, Idina Menzel, Sara Foster, Karlie Kloss, Nina Dobrev, Olivia Munn, Hannah Jeter, Bryce Harper, Jenny McCarthy, Milla Jovovich, T.J. Miller, Janelle Monae, Rebecca Romijn, Hailee Steinfeld, Bella Thorne, Julianne Hough, Zoe Saldana, Teyana Taylor and Steven Yeun.

Drake is nominated for 13 American Music Awards this year, breaking the previous record of 11 nominations in a single year when Michael Jackson released "Thriller" more than three decades ago. Rihanna got seven nominations and Adele and Justin Bieber tied with five each, while Beyonce and The Chainsmokers each received four nominations.

Bieber, Grande, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Carrie Underwood are up for the night's biggest award, Artist of the Year.

AMA nominees are selected by a mix of album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring, according to Billboard, Nielsen and Next Big Sound. Fans can also vote for their favorites on Twitter and the American Music Awards website.
