The hitmaker is believed to have been met with boos after asking the crowd to stop screaming between his songs.
According to a fan, the 22-year-old left the stage for two minutes before returning and telling fans he wasn't trying to be an "a**h***".
During the last of three shows in the northern city as part of his Purpose world tour, Justin reportedly informed the stadium: "I appreciate all the support, I appreciate love, I appreciate the kind things."
The US star continued: "But the screaming in these breaks has got to stop. Please and thank you.
"I don't think it's necessary when I'm trying to say something and you guys are screaming," BBC Newsbeat revealed.
When those in attendance seemingly refused to stop, Justin dropped his mic and walked away at around 10pm.
On returning, the Sorry crooner said: "I feel like I want to connect with you.
"The point of the no screaming thing is that when I'm looking at you in the eyes you know that we're actually having a moment and having a connection."
Justin went on to tell them they were "awesome" but after realising they were all still screaming added: "I'm just going to quit the talking alright.
"I'm not going to talk the rest of the night. We're just going to do the music. Obviously Manchester just can't handle it so let's do the music."
It comes after Justin told fans to "try and stay as quiet as possible" during his first gig in Manchester last week.
