Instead she simply asked her fans, family, and friends to donate to the Alliance for Lupus Research on Twitter.
In terms of other people's birthday wishes for her, her bestie Taylor Swift of course came through with a sweet message and a throwback photo. Beyond Tay, Justin Bieber's mom Pattie Mallette also greeted the pop star through a couple tweets. Wait, what?!
Could the birdie have been her son? Was this Justin's indirect way of greeting his ex? The duo dated for a few years, so it's entirely likely that Pattie and Selena were close when Jelena were still going strong.
But that's not all: she liked a fan's tweet about Jelena, which is... interesting, to say the least. Whether or not something is going on between Justin and Selena, these subtle hints are enough to keep Beliebers and Selenators hoping. In the words of Justin himself, never say never.
