It's a great day to be a Belieber! Justin Bieber dropped his dance-driven new track "Cold Water," a collaboration with Major Lazer and MØ, on Friday, July 22 — and despite that chilly title, it just might be the song of the summer.
The song, which was penned by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco, begins with the Biebs, 22, singing about the ups and downs of falling in love over a simple guitar riff.
"Everybody gets high sometimes, ya know / What else can we do when we're feeling low," the Canadian-born crooner coos. "So take a deep breath and let it go / You shouldn't be drowning on your own."
After the first verse, the beat picks up and the tune quickly turns into a rhythmic club-banger, echoing the sound of JB's Skrillex and Diplo-assisted 2015 hit "Where Are Ü Now."
Shortly after its release, "Cold Water" shot straight to the top spot on the iTunes chart. Diplo — who makes up one third of Major Lazer, along with Jillionaire and Walshy Fire — took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm over the song's success.
"#️⃣1️⃣🙌 thank u," the producer, 37, captioned a photo of iTunes' top 5. "@majorlazer@justinbieber @momomoyouth."

Hours before treating fans to new material, Bieber appropriately teased the future hit by sharing several short videos of himself submerged in frigid water. On Thursday night, the pop star tweeted a clip featuring himself — dressed in nothing but a pair of tight white Calvin Klein boxer briefs — bravely stepping into a glacier-barricaded lake. "ColdWater4HOURS," he wrote.
