Sask. dancer gets 'rockstar' treatment performing with Justin Bieber

Still beaming with a smile from ear-to-ear, Kylan Wagner says his appearance onstage at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon with his hero Justin Bieber is an experience he won't soon forget.

Thursday night, Wagner, 11, from Eatonia, Sask., and another young dancer from Calgary, Alta., joined Bieber on stage during the song "Children". The two die-hard fans won an online contest after submitting audition videos of them dancing to the song.

Wagner said the moments leading up to his performance were a little nerve-racking.

'I was sweating, I was hot and I've never breathed that heavy in my life.' - Kylan Wagner

"We were just standing backstage and the backup dancers were like, 'OK, stay here' and they kept switching and telling us what to do and everything … then our song started and we were still standing backstage but we weren't on the stage yet and we were thinking, 'When are we going to go up?'" Wagner recapped.

"Then finally he came and got us and we ran up on stage so we were freaked out about that."

Wagner can't even tell you how long he was onstage or who was around him because he was so focused on his routine. The pressure of being in front of a packed arena didn't even faze him.

"It was actually really fun," Wagner said. "As soon as I got on the stage I was just thinking about dancing and I just loved it out there."

After his few minutes onstage, Wagner said he was taken back through the VIP area to a pit where he reunited with his family. Wagner remembers being completely exhausted after his dance.

VIP treatment

"I was sweating, I was hot and I've never breathed that heavy in my life," he said. "After we went to our little VIP pit with our parents, I was kind of feeling like a rockstar walking to the VIP pit as I  passed all the other people feeling pretty good."

Wagner said he got to high-five the pop icon after his performance, but the rockstar treatment didn't end there. Wagner said as the they left the venue they were greeted by screaming fans outside. They soaked it all in and even snapped a few selfies with the crowd.

Wagner said the whole experience makes him want to work hard and one day become a professional dancer.

Wagner will study at the National Ballet School in Toronto this summer, after he competes in a national dance event in Orlando, Fla.

He's raising money to attend the World Tap Dancing Championships later this fall, in Germany.
