Justin Bieber spotted shirtless in Sylvan Lake

Justin Bieber made a short, shirtless appearance in Sylvan Lake Wednesday, driving fans into a frenzy.

"It was really exciting that he would come to a small town like ours," said Matthew Gauthier, 17, who shot two short videos of Bieber walking around Sylvan Lake.

Gauthier said he first heard a rumour that Bieber was at a lake house in Sylvan Lake through his friend, and the pair set out Wednesday afternoon to spot the star.

When they found Bieber's tour bus, they were ushered back by an RCMP officer and security to where they eagerly waited for Bieber to appear with around ten other fans who had gathered.

According to Gauthier, Bieber walked from the house without a shirt on and entered his bus, emerging a short time later wearing a shirt.

The pop star then shook hands with security and an RCMP officer before retreating back inside the home.

"It's not really that often that somebody this big will come to Sylvan Lake," said Gauthier, adding that while the appearance was brief and at a distance, fans were still excited to see Bieber in person.

Sylvan Lake mayor Sean McIntyre shared their sentiment, tweeting, "hope [you] had a great time in our community," to Bieber and his father, Jeremy Bieber.

While a resulting twitter storm brewed and fans continued to look for signs of the star, Bieber was off to his next destination, spotted in Banff, just a few hours later.
