Bieber was 'feeling the love' in the Fargodome

FARGO — Dressed in tutus, plaid, denim shorts and crop tops, Justin Bieber's overwhelmingly female fan base formed a line as far as the eye could see for his Purpose world tour. Mothers and daughters, groups of teen and college-aged women gathered to see the Canadian pop star at his first show in the Fargodome on Saturday, June 18.

As the lights went down, ear-piercing shrieks rang throughout the nearly-full Fargodome. Fans waited in anticipation as the star rose in a glass box, suspended above the stage for his slow-paced opening song, "Mark My Words."

To amp up the crowd, Bieber immediately followed with his Grammy-winning song, "Where Are U Now," accompanied by a dozen incredibly talented male and female backup dancers, dressed in all-white.

Wearing a red bandana, white shoes and cut off tee, he lifted his shirt to expose his abs, singing, "I gave you the shirt off my back, what you sayin'?" One can imagine how well that went over in a stadium full of ladies.

A cage dropped from the ceiling, enclosing him in a jail-like cell as he sang, "I'll Show You" followed by "The Feeling" from his newest album, "Purpose" before giving the crowd a re-worked, upbeat version of an older hit, "Boyfriend."

Bieber slowed it down to "just vibe it," sitting on a retro, ruby velvet couch to strum on his acoustic guitar and sing "Home To Mama" and a slower-paced version of "Love Yourself." Cell phones lit the Fargodome like twinkling stars.

The entire night was full of surprises. For "Company," a large trampoline platform lowered from ceiling as Bieber's 10 dancers took turns throwing gymnast moves before he nailed a couple backflips himself.

Somewhere in the middle, he rose on a platform to perform a drum solo. Who knew he had that kind of talent?

Trying to gauge how old his fans were, he inquired about age. By the sound of it, the audience peaked from 16 to 25, but he acknowledged his wide-ranged fan base ranging to 60 years old. "I think everyone in here is pretty amazing," he said.

Appropriately, for "Children," he brought kids from the crowd on stage, introducing and hugging them, before relaying messages of perseverance with "Life Is Worth Living" and "Purpose."

Up-and-comer singer-songwriter Moxie Raia opened with a half-dozen songs, closing with her catchy, upbeat single "On My Mind."

Post Malone, a hip-hop/R&B artist, followed with his biggest-known hit "White Iverson." Leaving the stage, he taunted, "Who's got Bieber fever?"

There's no doubt Fargo had Bieber fever on Saturday night. Messages of self-discovery and finding purpose made the show nothing short of inspiring. Any fan that didn't attend might be sorry they didn't.
