Selena Gomez's Ex Justin Bieber Facing $650K Lawsuit Over Scathing Tweet

A Canadian promotion company sued Justin Bieber. The lawsuit claimed that the Sorry singer ruined the firm's reputation with a single tweet.

According to TMZ.com, Team Productions claimed that they had a deal for Selena Gomez's ex to do a live performance at Montreal's Beach Club last August. The singer was supposed to do a couple of songs and then hang out with fans. However, the event never went ahead after Bieber suddenly backed out.

The company claimed that they already paid Bieber $250,000 and both parties agreed that the singer will get another $175,000, which was supposed to be paid before the event. The promoter also claimed that under the signed contract, Bieber agreed to promote the forthcoming event on social media.

However, the promoter expressed concern that Bieber was not publicizing the said event as agreed. Hence, the company tried to negotiate with the singer for a discount.

That's when Bieber suddenly backed out. He also blasted the firm on social media by tweeting: "Montreal due to the promoter of today's event breaking his contract and lying I will not be able to attend today's event."

On the follow-up tweet, Bieber wrote, "I look forward to coming back to Montreal in the future to do a proper show but I will not be able to attend 2day due to this breach. Thanks."

In the lawsuit papers obtained by the New York Daily News, the promotion company claimed that Bieber's tweet ruined the firm's reputation, as a result, no one wants to work with them anymore. "(Team Productions) enjoyed a wonderful reputation after having successfully organized major events in Montreal," the lawsuit stated. That reputation was destroyed by one single tweet by the defendant."

Team Productions is now seeking $500,000 for the lost potential earnings, $100,000 for the damaging the company's reputation and another $50,000 in punitive damages. Nonetheless, Justin Bieber has not commented about the lawsuit yet.
