Justin Bieber Is Being Sued for Allegedly Ripping Off Another Artist's Song With His Hit "Sorry"

Justin Bieber dropped his hit single "Sorry" back in October 2015 and eight months later, it's still sitting pretty in the top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its catchy beat and lyrics. But now he may be in a lot of trouble because of the addictive track.

According to TMZ, indie pop star Casey Dienel who goes by the stage name White Hinterland, is suing Justin for allegedly ripping off one of her songs in his iconic track.

Dienel claims the Justin copied her vocal loop at the beginning of her song "Ring the Bell". She says the "unique characteristics of the female vocal riff" in her song are identical to the synth-y riff at the beginning of "Sorry".

Give the two tracks a listen below and decide for yourself.

The opening riffs are undeniably similar, but overall, the songs have completely different vibes. Still, Dienel says he repeats the riff 6 times in the track and that both songs feature keyboard synthesizers, samples, synth bass, drums, and percussion (which most songs do, to be fair...).

Dienel says she warned Justin to stop using the sample last December, but he reportedly ignored her warning. Now she wants money in damages. She's also suing Skrillex, who produced "Sorry," and the song's writers.

This isn't the first time an artist has been accused of sampling another artist's music, but as always, it's unlikely Justin knew about the similarities considering he didn't produce the track. Guess we'll have to see how this plays out in court!
