Justin Bieber's handlers are not worried about him refusing to sign a prenuptial agreement before marrying Hailey Baldwin, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. Not only is the story coming from an outlet that has been repeatedly and provably wrong about the singer, but we're also told it's untrue.
According to Life & Style, Bieber's team is nervous he's going to make "a $250 million mistake." A so-called "source" is quoted as telling the tabloid, "He could easily end up having to fork over millions of dollars if they split especially if they're already talking about having children." The same purported insider goes on to blather, "Although Hailey is a successful model in her own right, she's nowhere near as well off as Justin." Adds the alleged tipster, "plus, her father [Stephen] has filed for bankruptcy in the past."
Before we go on, let's examine the supposed source's quotes because upon closer inspection they actually offer no insight at all. The first remark about how if Bieber and Baldwin married and then divorced he "could easily end up having to fork over millions of dollars" is obvious. He's a recording artist, who earns millions from his songs and tours. If they don't have a prenuptial agreement covering the division of their assets post-wedding, those monies would be part of the marital assets that would then be split. The "$250 million" he's reportedly earned before marriage would not be up for grabs unless he converts those assets into communal property.
Next, the "source" contends that he'd have to dole out cash if they have children. Yes, it's called child support and lots of dads pay it. Absolutely no one would expect Bieber not to, should they have kids and then divorce. And lastly, Stephen Baldwin's financial state has nothing to do whatsoever with the model and Bieber.
Further along in the article, the same "source" asserts, "Justin's family really does hope that he and Hailey work out." That same seemingly made-up tipster concludes, "They just don't want to see him pay the price years down the line." Once again, it doesn't take an insider to know any of this. Universally, parents hope their kids' marriages "work out" and not end up in messy divorces. It's highly unlikely that anyone's folks really want to see their children suffer emotionally and financially from a split.
Now that Gossip Cop has established that the tabloid's "source" doesn't really know anything more than the general public does (or could easily surmise), let's see what we've has learned. While Gossip Cop desperately wanted one of our Bieber insiders to comment on the record (for full transparency), unfortunately we were unsuccessful. That said, we told by a member of his team, who only commented on condition of anonymity, that the magazine's whole premise is untrue. But, as noted above, one doesn't even need our source to know that.
While the outlet contends that Bieber's handlers are worried he'll refuse to sign a prenup, curiously it doesn't provide any reasons why that's a legitimate concern. Having one doesn't mean he's any less in love or trusting of Baldwin. It's often a simple roadmap and protection for both spouses. For instance, it's possible Bieber records less music while Baldwin models more, making her the primary breadwinner.
Regardless, readers should be suspicious of the publication's claims because it has a terrible track record when it comes to reporting about Bieber's personal life. In 2014, for example, the tabloid ran a cover story that maintained Selena Gomez was pregnant with Bieber's baby. It's safe to say enough time has passed for everyone to agree that was completely false.
And just six months ago, the same outlet wrongly asserted Bieber was secretly engaged to Gomez. That entire article was also predicated on a "source." It should be no secret at this point that the tabloid's Bieber sources, if they even exist, have no insight into his life or wedding plans with Baldwin.
