(WFLA) - A Hillsborough County man accused of taking an Uber to Orlando to try to meet singer Lana Del Rey was inside Brandon Regional Hospital two days before the incident, court paperwork shows.
Michael Hunt remains in jail in Orange County after the February incident involving the pop star. He's charged with stalking and attempted kidnapping.
According to newly-released paperwork, "Hunt entered Brandon Regional Hospital on January 31, 2018, two days before this incident. At the time, he inquired about 'where they keep the babies.' He was reported to authorities; he does not have any children and there was no evidence he had any business there. Additionally, he posted on Facebook that he and Del Rey have a son."
A hospital spokeswoman sent the following statement to News Channel 8:
"While we cannot comment on this case specifically due to patient privacy guidelines, we can assert that patients and visitors encounter security screenings before and during their visit to the hospital. These screenings ensure that all of our patients are protected while we are caring for them."
Orlando police officials claim Hunt made comments on Facebook prior to Del Rey's Orlando concert at the Amway Center, saying it would be his last day on Facebook. He also made statements about wanting to be with her, police said.
Hunt reached out to News Channel 8's Ryan Hughes, sending a 6-page letter about the incident.
In it, he says "I thought us fans [were] allowed to express our feelings over celebrities? I guess since I'm not a teenage girl and Justin Bieber was not on stage it doesn't count."
Hunt was arrested before the concert about a block from the venue. According to paperwork, he was carrying a three-inch folding knife.
His attorney Nick Stack declined to comment and said he would not allow Hunt to talk about the incident on camera, even though Hunt expressed the desire to do so in the letter to WFLA.
